The call for volunteers for WordCamp Europe is now closed

The volunteer application form is now closed, and we are delighted to announce that we got more than a hundred volunteers signed up. Woohoo!

As we have already let you know in the emails: “We appreciate your commitment to the event at such an early stage.”

WordCamp Europe 2016 volunteer demographics

From more than a 130 applications, we got volunteers from 33 countries across the globe with the United States, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy and Romania leading in numbers.

It makes us really happy to see familiar names in the volunteers registration form – people who have helped in Leiden, Sofia and Seville. It makes us even happier to see how many new people would like to help out.

We’ve always believed that volunteering is the first step into eventually joining the WordCamp Europe organising team and hosting WordCamp Europe in your city. We know the next WCEU local team will have some of our 2016 volunteers in it!

What to expect as a volunteer

  • We are going to go through every application and assign you a role trying our best to fit that to your choice of activity.
  • We are going to use Slack for communication during the event. Your confirmation email has the details you need to register on Slack and join the channel.
  • We will share your tasks with you so you can check them out and send us your feedback
  • We’re going to send you detailed instructions two weeks before the event about volunteer orientation and your specific role.

Thank you again and see you in Vienna!

Love,

The WordCamp Europe organising team
